Welcome to our dedicated conference website for all you need to know about the first ever conference for those living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy. This event has been 15 years in the making, and with so much happening in the SMA space and the world right now, it seems fitting to provide updates for everyone. For those attending this conference you will be able to connect with not only some of your peers, but those clinicians, and other healthcare providers that support the SMA community on a daily basis. We have some fantastic speakers organised and are still working on bringing out to talk at the conference. These people are those who inspire us every day.
We have worked extremely hard in the background to source appropriate hotel options and due to the large volume of those coming and their not being a huge number of accessible rooms, there will of course be some meticulous planning to get as many people accessible rooms as possible. We urge you to contact us early so we can work with you to find suitable accommodation. All accommodation bookings will be managed through our conference organisers, so the more notice the better please!
Our best endeavours to hold this conference in May didn’t come to fruition with a pandemic the one hurdle everyone couldn’t get past. Rest assured we are doing everything possible to make this event comply with social distancing and other regulations as required. We urge you to contact us if you are intending to come along, so we can work with you and your budget. We have payment plans available, and also for those who have access to the NDIS – make sure you ask your case manager to see if the registration/ accommodation can be funded through your plan.
We are very excited by what we have planned at the conference, and we look forward to meeting some off you for the first time and some of you it will be like catching up with an old friend. The conference is open to not only those living with SMA but their extended family and friends, support workers, healthcare professionals and carers.
Watch out Gold Coast! The SMA community is coming!
